Sip Sip Water

Our bodies need water more than food. An average human being can survive up to 8 weeks without food but cannot survive longer than 1 week without drinking any water. Approximately 55% to 75% of our bodies are water, and each day, our bodies lose 2 to 3 liters of water through sweating, breathing etc.
Drinking water regularly is crucial because it is water that:

• Circulates the essential nutrient elements like carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins etc. in the body to help cells get the nutrient elements and survive.
• Gets rid of toxins generated in cells in the body via the kidneys and urination;
• Helps the bowels expel the waste products out of the body;
• Keeps the joints lubricated;
• Keeps our skin moisturized and plump;
• Keeps our core body temperature controlled; and
• Helps medicines reach to the places where they needed, and helps get rid of the waste products generated by the medicines, if you are on medication.

How much water should we drink?

The quantity of water we should drink depends on our body weight, and our activities, but an average human being should intake 2 to 3 liters of water, including 1.5 liters of other beverages every day.
Pregnant need more water. There is a water exchange between the fetus and the mother. During pregnancy, women hold 8 liters more water in their bodies, and a fetus consumes 0.5 to 1 liter water every day.
Safe water; is the water free from harmful bacteria and chemicals, processed and bottled in a hygienic environment by the manufacturer.

What is distilled water?

Distilled water; is the water deprived of minerals through the process of distillation. Distilled water does not contain any minerals essential for children and elders such as calcium, magnesium, bicarbonate, sulfur, and chlorine. Waters with low hardness level can be categorized as distilled water. Due to the absence of minerals, they are flat to the taste.

What are the differences between tap water and packaged water?

Packaged water is groundwater. Contamination risk is not high with groundwater. Packaged water does not contain any particles; because it is naturally filtered as it flows through porous layers of soil, and before packaged it flows through micron-rated filters for further filtration. On the other hand, tap water (city water) is obtained from surface waters such as streams, lakes, rivers, and dams. Due to its source, tap water needs to be mechanically or chemically treated. On the contrary, packaged water is clean, and does not require any treatment or process. Most of the packaged waters are treated for disinfection with a safe and odorless process that will not leave any residues or byproducts behind called ozone (O³) treatment. Packaged water facilities are regularly inspected by the relevant authorities who can impose sanctions on them. Packaged water always contains in certain quantities the minerals our bodies need whereas mineral content of tap water may vary. Packaged water is delivered in a sealed container to consumers, and therefore the risk of contamination is eliminated. Packaged waters are subject to legal restrictions in favor of consumers.
